For the Needy

The world is surrounded by people who need help
Society sees it as not their problem or not a big issue
But it is
The homeless and the hungry make the society
Whether we walk past a reaching hand asking us for help as if it's not there
Or apoligize and say we have nothing to give
Or reaching out and giving a little, makes who we are
Whether we make millions or thousands giving back is a must
Society never thinks that all our fortune and luxury could vanish in a blink of an eye
That the old lady pushing the cart down the street once might of had a life
Ignoring it to make it more alleviate
Seeing the problem everyday and knowing that it's there doesn't make it go away
It let's it spread like an untreated disease
Charity is an interdependence
Helping others helps ourselves

Character analysis

To really know someones character is very difficult. Most people believe they know someone because of time and experience. Others believe that knowing a persons character only takes a matter of minutes. It takes a lifetime. For example, women who get married believe they know and trust their spouses. But their are many cases where women find out that their husbands have another life and family somewhere else. In other cases, women are being beaten or killed by the spouse they thought they knew and trusted. Curley's wife from "of mice and men" would also be a good example. The other characters in the book believe she is a whore and is nothing but trouble. Readers can interpret people in books better than people in everyday life.Curley's wife is a young woman who is lonely and didn't get what she wanted out of life.
Curley's wife is just that, Curley's wife. She is and object to her husband. She is not allowed to talk to anybody other than Curley. Her life revolves around and is Curley's life. She is meant to live her days by herself."How would you like not talkin to nobody".
The characters who live and work on the barn always did their best to avoid Curley's wife. She goes on each day doing absolutely nothing. The fact that the other characters view her as a whore makes perfect sense. She's bored, lonely, and is looking for attention. To go on each day having everybody trying to avoid you can drive someone crazy. She has to go out of her way to get people to look and acknolegdge her. Curley's wife is the only woman on the barn and practically has no life of her own.
John Steinbeck makes his readers think. Curley's wife is the only character without a name. Throughout the entire book, readers are waiting to find out her name. But never do. After reading the book the reader starts to ask questions such as:why didn't she have a name. Steinbeck knew exactly what he was doing. Understanding the character was easier because she had no name. Curley's wife "coulda been in the movies" if it wasn't for Curley. Her life isn't anywhere near where she wanted it to be. She dreamed of being rich and famous. Which is the equivalent of friends and being looked and talked to. Her life was the opposite of
that.
Curley's wife died just as she lived- alone. After she died people were more concerned about Lennie. Her husband didn't shed a tear and was more concerned about other things. She would just be remembered as Curley's wife by the other characters. Not as a lonely dreamer or a misunderstood girl. Her death can be seen as a blessing in disguise. Curley's wife can be free to be whoever she wants to be, no longer an item of someone else.

The Greatest Place on Earth

To really understand what goes in in Times Square you'd have to be there. There is always something going on. Whether its 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning, one thing is for sure: there will be traffic. Surrounded by lights and stores and food stands Times Square is the place to be. Whether your on foot or in a vehicle you're having fun. It makes you feel like your a part of something important. It doesn't matter who are or what you do Times Square makes you feel a part of something bigger. It inspires you or just makes you feel good. Staring at those lights makes everything feel right. It doesn't matter if you don't have a cent in your pocket Times Square is your free entertainment. Time passes faster then one realizes and Times Square makes it feel like it's slowing down just for a little while. No matter where you're in the city you have to pass Times Square just for a little while. It's not just beautiful to look at, it's how it makes you feel when you look at it.

9/11 Paragraph

Did Osama Bin Laden brainwash his followers?

Osama Bin Laden told his followers to remain calm and that the  ''time between them and their marriage in heaven will be very short'' and "to remember God frequently". How can  killing innocent people for no good reason make them believe they would eventually end up in heaven? The story just doesn't make sense. Because as a christian if you take someone's life away for any reason at all or no reason at all it is wrong. Even though Bin Laden and his followers weren't christians, I'm sure that taking someone elses life for any particular reason is wrong no matter what religion you are. Osama Bin Laden had to have brainwashed or spinned the truth at least a little to convice his followers this was the right thing to do. And to also convice them to be willing to commint suicide for this cause.

I Am.......

I am an outgoing, and down to earth girl whose stuck in Batesville, Arkansas
I wonder what the world will be like 20 years from now
I hear music singing in my ears
I see hapiness
I want to be remembered
I am an outgoing, and down to earth girl whose stuck in Batesville, Arkansas

I pretend that I know everything
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulders
I touch people's feelings
I worry that I'll never get out of Arkansas
I cry for hungry and homeless children all over the world
I am an outgoing, and down to earth girl whose stuck in Batesville Arkansas.

I understand that nothing lasts forever
I say everything happens for a reason
I dream of living in a big city
I try to do the best I can
I hope that everything will work itself out
I am an outgoing, and down to earth girl whose stuck in Batesville, Arkansas

To Kill A Mockingbird

Harper Lee tells the story of a little girl, and what she goes through while her father is defending a black man. The narrator's father was a lawyer who represented the black man being charged of raping a white woman. The narrator being only a little kid tries to understand the racist and prejudicest world around her. Lee explains the hardship this family goes through as the father tries to do the right thing.
The book had a very good lesson and explained everything the right way. Lee held nothing back and didn't care if it upset some people. Eventhough the father fought a very good argument during the trial, the black man still was put in jail. This is typical of what happened in does types of cases in the 1930's. It didn't matter how it happened or who was responsible, the blacks would always be guilty and the whites would always be right back then.

Reading Between the Lines

Songs, these days, seem to have no real meaning anymore. It seems that all the songs out their are about partying, drugs, and a whole bunch of inappropriate and unimportant things. And most of them are just good songs because of the beats they have in them. So, to find a really good song with an important message and meaning I had to go back a couple of years.
Michael Jackson, almost always had a song with a meaning. His song '' They dont really care about us''
was no exception. In this song he talks about how people are always being judged and accused. It's about the pain that is caused by prejudiced and hatred. When Michael Jackson was asked about this song he responded by saying that he is the voice for everyone: The Jews, the whites, the blacks, and the skinhead. He also told that he wanted to bring attention to social and poitical problems. And tell the injustification of young people and how the system can wrongly accussed them. Even though it doesn't spell it all out in the song, it makes you think and also has a really nice beat to it.

"Facebook's Dangers"

In the magazine ''Arkansas Next'' there were many interesting articles. Most were about how to get into college and what kind of jobs there are out there and how much they pay. But only one really stood out to me and it was on page 86 titled "Facebook's Dangers". The article informes readers that things we think are cool and are "liked" by our peers may cost us more than we think.
Colleges like to look at teens facebook profiles to make decisions about who they should let into their colleges. So when you put a wild post from a wild party you attended, that helps committees giving scholarships out make up their mind about you from a pool of recipients. Facebook also can cost you a job. One way is by posting " I cant stand my lame boss". That post that is "liked by all your friends, can get you fired. Another way is if you post a picture of yourself at a wild party, doing crazy and wild things that is also "liked" by your friends. This can make your boss question your judgement or make assumptions about what kind of person you are. And can ultamitaly get you fired and unable to get another job.
After reading the article I asked myself so what do I do? Do I just stop using facebook? Or just stop putting pictures or posting anything? The quick solution is to just put your facebook on private so that only the people you want can see it.
